Daryl Jones
(1956)

Daryl Jones is an artist of varied interests and exceptional talent. One of his favourite themes is the portrayal of the streets and neighborhoods of Winnipeg which he bathes in the warm light characteristic of his paintings. He often focuses on the stately elm trees which, as autumn arrives, display their vivid canopy throughout the city.Born in Ontario in 1956, he lived in Fort Francis with his family before moving to Melville, Saskatchewan where he began to paint at an early age. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1966 where the artist now resides. He enrolled at the University of Manitoba after high school and following his studies, made painting his full time career.Daryl has become known for his landscapes and city views. His fascination with landscape painting has taken him across Canada. As a portrait artist, he has been commissioned by the Universities of Manitoba, and Winnipeg, Investors Group, the Law Society of Manitoba and the Government of Manitoba. Regardless of his subject, he is admired for his portrayal of colour and light.
